0.7.1 Update: Love Thy Player!
Weirdom Misadventure » Devlog
Welcome to the 0.7.1 Update, or as I like to call it, the “Love Thy Player” update! I recently had a friend of mine play a new build I made of the game, and boy was it eye-opening! I realized just how new-player hostile the game is, with how it barely tells you anything about how to play and how to get that information. Soooo I changed it! There are now various popups for information about how to play, an updated Strategy Guide, and a couple rearrangements of the Equip menu!
Detailed Changelog
- Revamped title screen and save file selection.
- Added hour and minute markers to the playtime tracker, as well as making it auto resize to fit the borders better.
- Oil can no longer crit.
- Equipment now notes how it must be equipped.
- Added splitting tutorial that shows up the first time a party member splits off, and proper persistence of whether or not it has been triggered.
- The mouse is now hidden within the game window.
- Changed the equip menu to better make use of the screenspace and now you can scroll through the subdescriptions with the arrow keys.
- Added brackets around control prompts in “welcome to” popups and various other places (please report any places where I have failed to add these brackets as a bug)
- Added info about vision cones in a popup in Tower of Souls.
- Added lever sprites, animations, and properly connected the two with the lever component’s and combatant properties logic.
- Replaced the “buttons” in the starting save room with the new lever prefab.
- Levers are now solid.
- Enduring Will can now only be used once per rest.
- Added text box that appears upon clearing the Tower of Souls to indicate that you’ve cleared it. This text box additionally only appears once.
- Replaced “Help” option in pause menu with “Log” option, which allows you to view a complete log of everything that has been passed through the CustomLog, as well as some things that haven’t such as important combatant feedback. This has also been added to the game over menu so you can reflect on what you did to lead to this point.
- The “skipping” message in the custom log is now tagged with who is skipping their turn.
- Replaced old Strategy Guide with shiny new one that can, include images, show two pages at a time, and has been re-cut up for ease of reading.
- Added images to the “Action Econ” section of the strategy guide.
- Added images to item, equipment, and passives sections.
- Added Combat Menu and Info sections of Strat Guide, as well as various other images and notes within the various pages.
- Knockback, LockDoor, SneakAttack, Summon, and AilmCure effects now have proper subdescriptions.
- Fixed small combat interaction hitbox on lever prefab and changed the associated ability’s name and flavor text from “Button” and “Boop!” to “Lever” and “Guh-chunk!”, as well as renaming it internally from “ToggleInput” to “LeverToggle”.
- Added randomized pulsing splash text to title screen.
- Made it so that missing with Oil creates an “OilSpill” prop.
- Made the path line slightly less transparent.
- Added tracker above cursor that counts remaining moves.
- Updated to subsequent effect rendering that makes it cleaner, as well as making the “OnCrit” indicator more visible, adding a “RequiresMiss” option, and the proper rendering for that option.
- Changed strategy guide’s Passives section to contain updated information about Enduring Will and Wraith Form (which has been nerfed to only last three rounds).
- Added images relating to stealth and a page relating to saving to the strategy guide.
- Updated Tutorial Quest’s dialogue.
